I’m excited to announce that this past month, Roger Suclupe and I launched The Helping Hands of Our Community Podcast - a conversation dedicated to offering insights, interviewing guests, and generating dialogue about the social determinants of health.

We’ve had some amazing people join the pod with a deep breadth and depth of expertise on the many different ways our social environments impact our health and wellbeing. Our guests and topics have included:

We also have new episodes to be released soon featuring:

  • Shantiqua Neely and Delana Murdock on addressing the social determinants when working with families experiencing homelessness at A Child’s Place

  • State Rep. Graig Meyer (NC) about how to work through the legislative process to improve community wellbeing

  • Paul Cuadros, award-winning author and journalist about building community in the context of cultural conflict and migration.

You can also check out our introductory episode to learn more about why Roger and I decided to put this podcast together and how taking a social determinants perspective is a useful lens for working in the helping professions.

The podcast is available on Spotify and most of the major podcast platforms. Listen in on your way to work!
