How are nonprofits and other community organizations accompanying adolescents and college students as they navigate their studies during a pandemic? We are so lucky to be joined this week by Elliot Karp, CEO of Hillels of Georgia, to talk about his work in supporting students on their journey through college. He talks about the importance of creating communities with college students and shares examples from his work supporting Jewish students through the pandemic.
He also talks about the importance of listening to students rather than prescribing solutions to create moments of authentic engagement. And he concludes reflecting on “Tikkun Olam” - a Hebrew phrase meaning “to repair the world” - and our common call to support others in building the common good.

Elliot Karp has served the Jewish community his entire professional career and brings to his new position as CEO of Hillels of Georgia extensive local, national and international executive leadership experience. He is a visionary with a deep commitment to Jewish life, living, learning and values and a respected and recognized Jewish community professional. Karp comes to Hillels of Georgia from Onward Israel, where he was vice president of development. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas. Previously, Karp was a senior executive with the Jewish Federations of Columbus, OH; Cincinnati and Philadelphia; as well as National United Jewish Appeal, the Jewish Agency for Israel, Brandeis University and Hebrew Union College.
