-
The Common Good Data Podcast is a podcast for nonprofit and public sector leaders committed to improving the their communities. The podcast incorporates examples from the field with discussion on data and evaluation.
-
Our audience is nonprofit and social sector professionals, particularly in the Southeast, who are engaged in providing programs and services in the areas of prevention, mental health, human services, community work, and education.
We will occasionally talk fundraising, development, and other organizational challenges faced by nonprofits, but our primary focus is on the programs, interventions, services, and areas of policy and community practice that are designed to advance the common good.
And with every episode, we ask our guests to share some data about their work and speak to how they use data at their organization for impact.
-
Each guest interview is typically around 30-40 minutes, but we allot 60 minutes for the interview to account for any technical issues.
During the interview, we’ll ask the following questions:
What is the problem your organization is set out to solve? What data (or stories?) can you share about the problem?
What is the unique way that your organization works to address this problem or challenge?
Can you share some data (or stories?) about the impact of your programs? How have you used data at your organization to improve your work?
We’ll also ask some follow-up questions and keep it conversational. Toward the end, we’ll probably ask you:
Something fun about music or culture that relates to your topic. For example, if your organization provides youth sports and extracurriculars, we might ask you to share your favorite inspirational sports movie with the audience.
How people can contact you to learn more about your work. You are also welcome to plug your organization here!

We edit our podcast episodes to ensure a smooth and professional listening experience.
This means we focus on cutting out filler words, mistakes, and any technical difficulties that may occur during recording.
However, we do not perform major content edits; our goal is to preserve the integrity of your message.
Additionally, we may take short clips and make minor adjustments to improve pacing and flow, but rest assured, we do not alter the meaning of your words.
Our editing process is designed to enhance the overall quality of the episode while maintaining the authenticity of the conversation.

Absolutely! One of our goals with this podcast is for each interview guest to share tips, resources, links, or other materials that listeners can take with them and use in their own practice. You will be emailed promotion materials when the episode is live.
Our hope is that these episodes can be a resource for many and that your contribution will help social sector professionals, students, and anyone who wants to improve in their career in service to others.

We promote episodes and share them via social media and our community email list. Before the interview, be sure to complete the pre-interview form, which will ask you for:

A short bio (100 words or less), link to your personal/professional website
A professional picture, or permission to use your LinkedIn photo

After we record, we’ll take it to the studio for final edits and production. We'll notify you by email when your episode is live. Typically it can take between 2-8 weeks from interview to production.
Be mindful about not mentioning current events. Discuss with Drew if you wish to discuss time-sensitive events. We can push up the release date if need be.

We’re a podcast built to serve the nonprofit and public sector community. While we wish we could financially compensate our guests, we try to keep costs low so we can keep delivering episodes to our listeners.
Our hope is that this podcast can be a platform to support and promote the work of our guests and the organizations they represent. We appreciate your interest in volunteering as a guest for the podcast!
