How are nonprofit and social sector organizations responding in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic? On our first episode, we interview Callan Brown, Program Director at the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida who shares innovative ways nonprofits are navigating the pandemic. We also hear from Brad Firchow, health communications specialist, who provides a framework for how to communicate during as crisis - and answers question we're all having about how to create safe and healthy workplaces.

Callan Brown, MPA, is nonprofit professional with experience working for small and large organizations, specializing in program development, facilitation, event planning, logistics, grants management, and fundraising. Callan currently serves as Program Director at the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida. She is responsible for a portfolio of initiatives to strengthen the capacity of the Nonprofit Center’s members through programs, trainings, and workshops, and leads the Center’s largest annual event, the Nonprofit Works Conference. Callan earned her Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of North Florida with a focus in Nonprofit Management. Callan has extensive involvement as a volunteer, mentor, and leader with nonprofits in Jacksonville, FL. Callan served with AmeriCorps during her time at the Florida State University, where she earned her BA in Art History and Museum Studies. She has a strong passion for the arts and currently teaches dance to adults at Dance Trance Fitness in downtown Jacksonville.

Bradley Firchow is a public health researcher and communicator who is passionate about rural medicine. He is excited to improve health outcomes for patients in medically underserved areas. His interest stems from spending his formative years in Appalachia and the rural South. He aims to practice medicine as a rural family doctor in one of these regions to accompany communities to better health.
