Fundraising is a challenge for many nonprofits, particularly during Covid-19. On this episode we invited Maria Azuri from Network for Good to share strategies for effective fundraising during the pandemic, with a focus on how to get beyond the grant cycle and fundraise with the long-term in mind. She also talks about the importance of cultivating relationships with individual donors as a key piece to the fundraising puzzle. We then spoke with Greer Hannan from St. Vincent DePaul of Louisville, Kentucky, who discusses a new grant her organization has received to support individuals at the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness. She also shares her expertise on how to prepare a successful HUD grant application.

Maria S. Azuri, LMSW, is the Senior Director of Impact and Sustainability at Network for Good, where she connects and provides the diverse social sector with the tools, resources and knowledge it needs to strengthen and elevate the reach of philanthropy through strong capacity building, partnerships and cross-sector initiatives. She brings a deep passion and commitment to community vitality, especially for marginalized communities and groups, through emphasizing strong and sustainable programming, innovative philanthropic partnerships and strategic multi-sector collaborations that are relevant and practical. Maria is known for her ability to forge strong relationships and steward partnerships that energize and impact grantees and funders alike.
Greer Hannan is a nonprofit professional with ten years of experience in housing and homeless services. She holds Masters degrees in Nonprofit Administration and Divinity from the University of Notre Dame. She currently manages public funding and regulatory compliance for St. Vincent de Paul Louisville. She has lived in Kentucky for the past five years, after being raised in Indiana and getting her professional start in Dublin, Ireland. She has extensive professional experience in HUD CoC housing programs, VA Grant Per Diem funding, Council on Accreditation requirements, performance quality improvement, and providing staff training. In her spare time, she enjoys writing and contra dancing. She believes that the end of poverty begins with the riches of a community's culture and connections, and we each have gifts to build that wealth.
